Stewart Island Place Names ……
Prices Inlet ….. Jack Price was a whaler and sealer, a wild man, in a time of wild men. At times too much even for his fellow sealers he was once marooned on Solander Island with his Maori wife, They escaped by building a corracle, and paddling the 20 odd miles to the mainland. No mean feat in those turbulent waters. He died in 1819, and is buried at Prices Beach in Preservation Inlet
