White Fronted Tern
Tara
Sterna striata
White Fronted Terns are common around Paterson Inlet and the Islands coastal waters. Their slightly erratic flight pattern readily distinguishes them at a distance from the slightly “chunkier” Red Billed Gulls. There are a couple os small nesting locations around Ulva, but individuals may be found nesting on almost any rocky headland or steep shore. The rocks at the North End of Sydney Cove is a popular resting place for anything up to 2 or 3 dozen birds.
